VMC notice to GETCO over damaged drainage line

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has issued a notice to the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) for damaging a civic drainage pipeline during work to lay an underground power cable in Nizampura.According to VMC officials, GETCO was laying an underground cable from Deluxe Crossroads to Mehsananagar Crossroads using the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method when the drainage line was damaged, leading to silting and blockage.

The clogged drainage line triggered complaints from residents of Ward 1, following which VMC undertook repair and desilting work to restore the system.Although the civic body carried out the repairs, it issued a notice to GETCO seeking compensation for the restoration work. VMC said GETCO has agreed to bear the cost of the repairs.
