Visibility drops below 50m as fog covers Gurgaon

Gurgaon: The city shivered through a cold and fog-choked Wednesday morning as the minimum temperature dipped to 8°C, and very dense fog reduced visibility to below 50 metres across several parts of the city. This disrupted traffic and delayed flights and trains during peak morning hours.Data from the India Meteorological Department showed Haryana’s average minimum temperature fell by around 1.1°C compared to Tuesday, though it remained near normal for this time of year.

Gurgaon recorded 8°C, while the coldest place in the state was Hisar at 4.3°C. Other stations reported 7.5°C in Karnal, 8.6°C in Rohtak, 9.7°C in Faridabad, 7.4°C in Chandigarh, and 9.8°C in Ambala.IMD said dense fog over Gurgaon was part of a wider belt of low clouds and fog affecting north and central India. While mornings stayed bitterly cold, daytime temperatures edged up slightly. IMD data showed Haryana’s average maximum temperature rose by 0.8°C on Wednesday and remained near normal. Gurgaon recorded a daytime high of 20.7°C, while Faridabad was the warmest in the state at 23.6°C. Maximum temperatures elsewhere stood at 22.5°C in Bhiwani, 22.1°C in Chandigarh, 21.4°C in Hisar, 21°C in Karnal, and 20.5°C in Rohtak.In Gurgaon, commuters reported poor visibility well into mid-morning, with fog lingering in low-lying pockets even after sunrise.
