Vishisht Seva Medal for Maj Gen DP Singh

Lucknow: Major General DP Singh, an artillery officer who was part of Operation Sindoor, has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for his exceptional service in the Indian Army. Hailing from Rae Bareli and settled in Lucknow, he comes from a family with a long tradition of military service, with three generations—from his father to his son—serving in the armed forces. He completed his schooling across Kapurthala, Belgaum and Lucknow before being commissioned in 1992.Over the years, he has served in almost every terrain and region of the country and has held several key appointments. His father, Col Raghvendra Bahadur Singh of the Army Education Corps, passed away in 2016. Continuing the family’s legacy, his son, Vikrant Pratap Singh, is currently serving in the Indian Army as a Major.
