Vijay appoints poll observers for TN, Pondy

Chennai: TVK president Vijay on Saturday appointed election observers to oversee poll-related activities across 38 districts of Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Puducherry. In a statement, Vijay said party general secretary N Anand, chief coordinator of the state executive committee K A Sengottaiyan, and general secretary (election) Aadhav Arjuna would be chief election observers for the assembly polls. In addition, 18 state-level functionaries were appointed as election observers, and several others as joint election observers to coordinate campaign work. “They will function under my direct guidance,” Vijay said, urging party functionaries and cadres to extend full cooperation to them in election-related activities. Earlier in the day, Lokesh Tamilselvan, son of senior AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu speaker P Dhanapal, joined the party. Catherine Ezhilmalai, daughter of former Union minister Dalit Ezhilmalai, and Chandrakumar, grandson of Dalit activist Immanuel Sekaran, also joined the party on the occasion. TNN
