Pune: A 34-year-old CRPF employee’s visit to home proved fatal in the early hours of Monday when a vehicle ran him over on the Pune-Solapur highway near Indapur, about 138km from the city, while his father was standing on the other side of the road.The victim, Mahadev Nazirkar, was posted in Mumbai. He went to his village, Maradewadi, in Indapur taluka by bus to meet his parents.
An officer from the Pune Rural police said Nazirkar got off the bus along the Pune-Solapur highway just after Sunday midnight. His father was waiting for him on the other side of the highway.“A vehicle hit Nazirkar while he was crossing the highway. He suffered severe injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” the officer said.He said the driver of the vehicle did not stop after the accident. “We are searching for him and the vehicle,” the officer said.
