UPSRTC to run additional 137 buses for Holi | Varanasi News

Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has planned to operate additional buses to tackle the rush of Holi festivities. A total of 370 buses will operate from the Varanasi region for 10 days—Feb 28 to March 9— for safe and smooth travel during the festive season.

Regional manager Parshuram Pandey said 137 buses will be added to the existing fleet; 114 buses will run on Varanasi-Gorakhpur route, 68 buses will operate on Varanasi-Shaktinagar Baidhan route and 55 buses will operate on Varanasi-Lucknow route. The number of trips on other routes will also increase as required. Pandey said that a special incentive scheme will also be provided to the drivers and conductors. Employees working continuously for nine days will get an incentive of Rs 3,600 at the rate of Rs 400 per day. An average operation of 300 kms per day will be required for incentive. On operating bus for 10 days, the employees will get incentive of Rs 4,500 at the rate of Rs 450 per day. Contract and outsourcing drivers will be paid additionally at the rate of 55 paise per kilometre for driving more than the prescribed standard kilometres. Besides, provision has also been made to provide incentive to other employees working during the prescribed days.
