Kanpur: Upset over being scolded by her mother, a 14-year-old girl from Gaya in Bihar left her home with two of her friends and decided to travel to Delhi to become “self-reliant”. However, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel spotted them onboard Mahabodhi Express at Kanpur Central Station and handed them over to the Bihar police.The RPF post at Kanpur Central Station received information that three runaway girls were travelling in the general coach of Mahabodhi Express. When the train reached platform number 2 on Sunday, RPF personnel searched for the girls.
When the girls saw RPF personnel, they got down the train and moved towards the Cantonment side of the station. The personnel, however, cordoned off the area and nabbed the girls.When quizzed, one of the girls said that she was scolded by her mother when she demanded money to go for an outing with a friend.“Agitated over this, the girl decided to leave her home and become “self-reliant”. She decided to leave for Delhi and convinced two of her friends to accompany her,” an RPF officer said.The RPF informed Gaya police station in-charge Dhananjay Singh of Bihar about the recovery of missing girls.“The girls boarded the Mahabodhi Express on Saturday and were on their way to Delhi. Their family members had filed a complaint with Gaya police, suspecting kidnapping,” Singh said.Kanpur Central Station RPF post in-charge SN Patidar said that Bihar police had taken the girls in their custody.
