Lucknow: After the announcement of district, city and state committees of its legal department, the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday held a meeting of Lucknow-based office-bearers and advocates at the party’s state headquarters.State Congress president Ajay Rai attended the meeting as chief guest, while legal department state chairman Asif Rizvi presided over the session. The proceedings were conducted by state vice-presidents Anas Khan (organisation in-charge) and Amanur Rahman (media in-charge).

Newly appointed office-bearers and advocates held detailed discussions on upcoming programmes, strategy, and strengthening the organisational structure of the legal cell.Rai said the party’s legal department was a strong pillar in safeguarding the Constitution, democracy, and citizens’ rights. “The enthusiasm of our advocate colleagues makes it clear that the legal department will play a decisive role in defending constitutional values,” he said.Rizvi said the department’s role went beyond fighting legal battles in courts. “It is equally important to spread awareness in society about constitutional values and democratic rights,” he said.The meeting resolved to expand legal department’s presence down to booth level and continue its struggle for constitutional values, civil rights, and social justice across Uttar Pradesh.
