Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association on Tuesday condoled the death of its curator Shiv Kumar, who died due to cardiac arrest while supervising preparation of the wicket for the forthcoming Nayudu tie to be commenced from February 6 in Kanpur.Rajiv Shukla, vice-president BCCI, in his message stated “The passing away of Shiv Kumar is a great loss for the Indian cricket fraternity. He was an extremely experienced, honest, and dedicated professional. His work and contributions will be remembered for a long time. May God grant peace to the departed soul of the mother and give strength to the grieving family to bear this sorrow”.
Shiv Kumar was an exceptionally experienced, dedicated, and hardworking curator who dedicated his services to Uttar Pradesh cricket for decades. He constructed numerous high-quality pitches at various cricket grounds across the state, which were widely praised for their consistency, balance, and suitability for all formats of the game.Recently, Shiv Kumar undertook pitch construction and consulting work for the Singapore Cricket Association, where the pitch he prepared was highly appreciated by players, officials, and organisers.The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association offered its heartfelt condolences to the departed soul and expressed its deepest sympathies to his family, relatives, and all well-wishers during this extremely difficult time. Several cricketers including former cricketers and Kanpur Cricket Association officials also condoled the death.
