Rooftop solar systems have helped reduce electricity bills by 60-90%, enabling households to save an average of Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month. To support adoption, consumers have received Rs 2,440.62 cr in central subsidies and nearly Rs 600 cr from the state govt. The environmental impact has been equally significant. UP has achieved an annual reduction of 13-15 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions, contributing to national clean-energy commitments. The state is working on integrating the scheme with a Unified Energy Interface (UEI)-based digital framework, which aims to streamline solar generation, net metering, carbon tracking and energy-linked financial services. This initiative is expected to further enhance efficiency and support emerging sectors such as EV charging and green financing.
