In Rae Bareli, UP, Lalganj police and SOG arrested six members of the inter -state chain snatching gang. A gold chain, Rs 9475 has been recovered from them. The police have also seized a Scorpio on their spot. The gang also has two female members.
Police were alerted as the incidents of chain snatching increased in the city and Lalganj. The intelligence department was also helped, finding out that a chain snatching gang is active in the district. On the instructions of SP Dr. Yashveer Singh, SOG, Lalganj police and surveillance team were engaged in catching gang members.
On Friday, the police arrested Suman alias Lilam, Reshma, Birju alias Chulbul, Akash, Kanhaiya Prasad and Manoj Kumar, resident of Khalishganj district Azamgarh, Lakhnapar police station, Gorakhpur resident of Lakhnapar police station, Barhalganj district Gorakhpur. A gold chain, Rs 9475 and a Scorpio car were recovered from them.
It is said that on February 19, Bano wife Mo. from Gandhi Square in Lalganj. Shamim was going to Chakmandi by e-rickshaw. Meanwhile, Suman and Reshma also sit in the e-rickshaw. On the way, both of them start quarreling and during this time the chain of Bano’s neck crosses.
After quarreling, both women get off the e-rickshaw on the middle way. When Bano reaches Chakmandi, he gets information about crossing the chain. The police became active after the incident and the gang was caught.
Important role of gang women
Caught Suman and Reshma told that she used to sit in a Scorpio car and first saw which woman has a gold chain or other jewelry in her neck and by what means she is going. After this, she also used to go to the spot and pretend to fight among themselves first.
This used to divide the attention of hunting and snatching without any problem. Birju, Akash, Kanhaiya Prasad and Manoj Kumar used to follow the Scorpio to back up both women. If there was any problem, then he used to get off the car and help the women members of the gang.
Three cases are registered
ASP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha said that the gang members have been vicious and have been giving these incidents unjust for a long time. During interrogation, it has been found that it has done chain snatching in many districts. Suman has three cases in Azamgarh, one on Reshma in Mohanlalganj, Bachhrawan, Lucknow South Commissionerate Sushant Golf City Police Station. Similarly, Kanhaiya has a criminal case in Mohanlalganj.
