LUCKNOW: The PGI police on Wednesday claimed to have cracked a sensational murder case involving a young man, Pradeep Singh Parihar, within hours of the crime, arresting his wife and her alleged lover for plotting his killing after luring him with the promise of a foreign trip.Police said the conspiracy was hatched by Pooja Singh (32), an employee at a private hospital, in connivance with her lover, Ramtirth Maurya (32), a pesticide salesman. The duo allegedly planned to eliminate Pradeep so they could live together. Maurya was arrested from the Chiraiyabag bus stand, while Pooja was taken into custody from the SGPGI Trauma Centre in Lucknow. A knife used in the murder and a T-shirt were recovered during the operation.
Investigations revealed that Pradeep was a habitual drinker, leading to frequent domestic discord. During this period, Pooja allegedly grew close to Maurya, who lived in an adjoining room in their Utrethiya rented accommodation. Police said Pooja allegedly persuaded her husband with plans for a better life and foreign travel, while secretly urging Maurya to “remove” him. On the day of the crime, after being informed by Pooja that Pradeep was returning from Kanpur Dehat, Maurya took him out on a motorcycle for drinks. Near the Chiraiyabag underpass service lane, Maurya allegedly slit Pradeep’s throat from behind, killing him on the spot. The case was registered on a complaint by the victim’s father, Lakhan Singh, under Section 103(1) (murder) and Section 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
