UP horror: Man killed for objecting to people urinating near his house, cop among 6 held

PRAYAGRAJ: A 45-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death after he objected to wedding guests urinating near his house in the Naini area of Prayagraj district, police said on Friday. Six of the 12 named accused have been arrested so far.Assistant commissioner of police (Karchhana) Sunil Kumar said police received a call on the emergency helpline 112 on Thursday night reporting a scuffle outside a banquet hall in Madauka, where a man had been brutally assaulted.Upon reaching the spot near Sanjay Guest House, officers found the victim, identified as Rajesh Nishad, a local resident. A wedding ceremony for the daughter of Nanku Chaurasia was underway at the venue when the incident occurred.According to the ACP, some members of the wedding procession were allegedly urinating near Nishad’s house. When he objected to their behaviour, an argument ensued, and the accused allegedly attacked him with an iron rod.Nishad was taken to the hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead, ACP Kumar said, adding that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, police have registered a case against 12 named individuals.Assistant commissioner of police said that six accused, including the main accused Sunil Kanojia, have been arrested. Kanojia, a police constable posted in Mau district, had come to attend his cousin’s wedding at the time of the incident, he added.(With agency inputs)
