UP govt starts campaign to uplift tribal communities

Lucknow: The state govt is running a dedicated campaign to pull out tribal communities in the state from years of neglect and connect them with the mainstream. These special groups are being made self-reliant through start-up funds, revolving funds and community investment funds. Besides, govt is also ensuring that they get benefits of welfare schemes at their doorsteps.The Musahar community can be found in 2,843 gram panchayats of the state. Govt has formed 1,896 special Musahars and through these self-help groups, their families are being directly connected with self-employment and govt grants.“Similarly, 496 SHGs have been formed of the Vantangia community. This community has given the right to revenue villages and now they are becoming economically capable,” said a govt spokesperson.
