Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh govt has granted administrative and financial approval of Rs 46.23 crore for the construction of non-residential buildings of police department in various districts during the financial year 2025-26.The sanction covered 27 major infrastructure projects, including the construction of cybercrime police station buildings, barracks and hostels for police personnel, investigation rooms, women police station facilities, circle officer (CO) office buildings, PAC water supply infrastructure, electrical upgrades in police lines, and women-friendly amenities such as prefabricated toilets.Among key projects approved were administrative buildings for cybercrime police stations in Muzaffarnagar, Etah, Hathras, Kasganj and Bareilly range, reflecting the state’s emphasis on strengthening cyber policing capabilities.Significant allocations were also made for Kaushambi district where new hostels, barracks and investigation rooms will be constructed at Sarai Akil, Manjhanpur, Paschim Sharira, Karari, Pipri and Mahewaghat police stations.The govt also approved the construction of hostels with capacity of 40-48 and investigation rooms at women police stations in Balrampur and Siddharthnagar, underlining focus on improving working conditions and accommodation for women police personnel.CO office buildings were sanctioned at Mahmudabad (Sitapur), Nagar Pancham (Prayagraj) and Mathura Sadar/Vrindavan.Infrastructure upgrades for the 41st Battalion PAC, Ghaziabad, including new overhead water tanks, tube wells and water distribution systems, also received approval. In Farrukhabad, damaged electrical wiring in the police lines will be replaced with safer bunch cable systems, along with the installation of electricity meters in residential colonies.To improve basic facilities for women visitors and staff, the govt sanctioned temporary prefabricated women toilets at police stations in Ghaziabad (Indirapuram), Meerut (Transport Nagar and Medical College), Bareilly (Fatehganj West), Saharanpur (Deoband) and Hapur (Simbhawali).Projects will be executed through agencies such as public works department (PWD), UP Projects Corporation, UP Police Housing Corporation, UP Jal Nigam (C&D Wing) and rural engineering department, with the entire sanctioned amount released for expenditure in 2025-26.Officials said the large-scale approval reflects the state govt’s sustained focus on modernising police infrastructure, improving working conditions for personnel and strengthening public-facing policing facilities, particularly in cybercrime response and women-centric policing.
