Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa publicly reprimanded local election officials on X after a citizen’s complaint went viral. On Friday, a law student Prakhar Gupta tweeted about his mother Monika Gupta’s stalled Form 8 application for voter details correction in Lucknow East constituency.

Submitted on Jan 11, the form remained stuck with the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), not forwarded to the BLO despite the expected timeline.

Gupta shared a screenshot showing the status as “Submitted,” with no progress beyond BLO appointment. The CEO responded swiftly, criticizing the AERO’s “carelessness” and the Electoral Registration Officer’s (ERO) lack of supervision. “Such instances create avoidable dissatisfaction among citizens,” the post stated.
