The Google Search Console (GSC) Property refers to a verified site or URL that you’ve added to Google Search Console to monitor its performance in Google Search results.

Types of Properties in Google Search Console:

  1. Domain Property (e.g., example.com)

    • Covers all subdomains (blog.example.comshop.example.com) and protocols (httphttps).

    • Requires DNS verification.

    • Best for tracking an entire domain comprehensively.

  2. URL Prefix Property (e.g., https://example.com or https://blog.example.com)

    • Tracks a specific protocol (http/https) and subfolder.

    • Supports multiple verification methods (HTML file, DNS, Google Analytics, etc.).

    • Useful for individual sections of a site.

How to Add a Property:

  1. Go to Google Search Console.

  2. Click “Add Property”.

  3. Choose between Domain or URL Prefix and enter the URL.

  4. Verify ownership using the recommended method (DNS, HTML file, etc.).

Why Use GSC Properties?

  • Track search performance (clicks, impressions, CTR).

  • Identify indexing issues.

  • Submit sitemaps and URLs for crawling.

  • Monitor Core Web Vitals and mobile usability.
