Prayagraj: The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation is planning an underground parking facility with a commercial complex near Meena Bazaar, spanning around 2,500 sqm, to ease congestion in Chowk, the city’s bustling hub.The project is set to get over Rs 25 crore in investment, with the parking facility designed to fit over 200 cars and 400 two-wheelers.Municipal commissioner Sai Teja had shot a letter to the district magistrate, requesting allocation of the required land for the project. Once the district administration made the land available, PMC planned to prepare a detailed project report (DPR). The proposal to build the underground parking facility has already received approval from the Sadan (House) of PMC, indicating administrative readiness for the project. As part of the plan, the commercial complex to be constructed above the underground parking facility would be auctioned during the construction phase. Officials stated that construction work would be expedited immediately after land allocation to ensure minimal delay.Mayor Ganesh Kesherwani emphasised the importance of proper parking arrangements in the city, stating that underground and multi-level parking facilities were being planned at key locations across Prayagraj. Teja reiterated that the proposal was intended to provide long-term relief to residents, traders, and visitors. He noted that once implemented, people travelling to Chowk and the Clock Tower area would no longer have to worry about parking hassles.
