Udyam Registration Certificate – Step-by-Step Guide

The Udyam Registration Certificate is a government-recognized document that provides Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India with various benefits, including subsidies, loans, and tax exemptions. Here’s a step-by-step guide to registering for Udyam online:


Step 1: Check Eligibility

  • Micro Enterprise: Investment ≤ ₹1 Cr & Turnover ≤ ₹5 Cr

  • Small Enterprise: Investment ≤ ₹10 Cr & Turnover ≤ ₹50 Cr

  • Medium Enterprise: Investment ≤ ₹50 Cr & Turnover ≤ ₹250 Cr


Step 2: Documents Required

  1. Aadhaar Card (for proprietors/partners/directors)

  2. PAN Card (mandatory for registration)

  3. Business Details (name, address, type of organization)

  4. Bank Account Details (IFSC code & account number)

  5. Investment & Turnover Details (self-declared)


Step 3: Online Registration Process

Option 1: New Registration

  1. Visit the Udyam Portalhttps://udyamregistration.gov.in

  2. Click on “For New Entrepreneurs” → “Register for Udyam”

  3. Enter Aadhaar Number & validate via OTP

  4. Fill Business Details:

    • PAN (linked to Aadhaar)

    • Business name, type (Proprietorship/LLP/Company/etc.)

    • Address, contact details

    • NIC code (business activity)

  5. Enter Investment & Turnover (self-declared)

  6. Submit & Generate OTP (for verification)

  7. Download Udyam Registration Certificate (PDF format)

Option 2: Upgrading from Udyog Aadhaar (Existing MSMEs)

  • Existing Udyog Aadhaar holders must migrate to Udyam Registration.
