KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile has launched its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), positioning the neutral platform as a catalyst for Malaysia’s digitalisation by enabling enterprises, SMEs, start-ups, academia and public sector agencies to develop and commercialise 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and artificial intelligence (AI) use cases.
In a statement, the country’s newest 5G network provider said the EIP will operate on a develop, test and demonstrate framework, with a physical EIP Hub and sandbox slated to launch in July 2026.
The platform is designed to be agnostic, allowing participants to collaborate and validate proofs-of-concept and pilot projects regardless of their existing service providers.
U Mobile also announced its first eight EIP partners, grouped into anchor and technology partners. Anchor partners—Amazon Web Services, Huawei Malaysia, Palo Alto Networks and Qualcomm—will provide foundational technologies and core capabilities to support the EIP Hub and sandbox.
Technology partners—Braintree Technologies, China Mobile International, Meraque Group and ZTE Malaysia—will contribute applied tools and vertical expertise.
Chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen said the initiative aligns with U Mobile’s push to accelerate adoption of 5G-A and AI solutions, adding that the EIP will be open to participants even if they are not existing customers.
“As the nation’s newest 5G network provider, our latest initiative, EIP is in line with our drive to promote innovation and adoption of 5G-A and AI solutions,” he said.
Woon said users will be able to tap the platform’s infrastructure, as well as partner expertise, to develop, test and commercialise solutions.
“Our physical EIP Hub, launching in July 2026, may be powered by next-gen 5G infrastructure and our ULTRA5G connectivity but it is really a neutral environment, meaning any enterprise, SME, start-up, academia or public sector agency may leverage our platform, even if they are not our existing customers,” he said.
U Mobile said the EIP is expected to expand its partner base over time to meet evolving innovation needs and support Malaysia’s digital and AI ambitions under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan.
