Varanasi: Two notorious criminals involved in robbery were arrested within 12 hours after the incident, following an encounter in Ghazipur district on Thursday. According to reports, the Zamania police team led by SO Ramsajan Nagar was on patrol when they got a tip-off about robbery and snatching suspects hanging around Tajpur and Chitawanpatti, planning their next move.Acting on the information, police tried to corner the suspects near the Bhaidpur-Lahuwar Road canal. The criminals opened fire, and in self-defence, police shot back, injuring Arman Qureshi, a resident of Pathan Toli Kasba, in both legs. He was rushed to CHC Zamania for treatment. Qureshi has a criminal history, with 12 cases registered in Ghazipur and Bhabhua (Bihar) districts, while his accomplice Dilnawaz alias Shahrukh, a resident of Subhan Toli Kasba, was wanted in one case. Police recovered two pistols, two empty cartridges, a live cartridge (.315 bore), and Rs 15,000 from their possession.
