Vadodara: The city witnessed two incidents of snatching in different areas within the last 24 hours, police said on Thursday.In the first incident, a senior citizen and her daughter were robbed of gold jewellery worth over Rs 2.21 lakh on Wednesday evening. According to police, the victim, Jaymala Dutta, along with her daughter Anuradha, had visited a jewellery showroom near Bird Circle in Vadodara to purchase gold ornaments.After buying the jewellery, the two left for home on a two-wheeler, with Jaymala riding pillion and carrying the purse containing the ornaments. As they reached Krunal Crossroads and were about to take a turn, two unidentified men on a scooter allegedly approached from behind and snatched the purse. Anuradha later lodged a complaint against the unidentified duo.Police said CCTV footage from the area is being examined, adding that the accused may have been following the women from outside the showroom and were aware that they had purchased jewellery.In another incident, a 58-year-old man lodged a complaint of snatching at J P Road police station on Thursday. The complainant, Kalpesh Mahant, told police that he was returning home from Tandalja on Old Padra Road with a bag containing Rs 1.51 lakh in cash when three men on a two-wheeler approached him. One of the accused allegedly snatched the bag, after which the trio fled.Police have launched separate investigations into both cases.
