Two killed as SUV hits cyclists in Kanpur | Kanpur News

Kanpur: Two cyclists lost their lives after being hit by an SUV in Shujatganj area of Kanpur early Sunday morning.The driver of the vehicle, Imtiyaz of Shyamnagar area, also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.Police said that Imtiyaz was going towards Shujatganj in his SUV when he lost control and hit cyclists Prashant Jha and Shailesh. Police took the trio to hospital where Prashant and Shailesh succumbed to injuries during treatment.Station in-charge Jitendra Pratap Singh Chauhan said, “An e-rickshaw and two other vehicles were also damaged in the accident. An FIR will be filed based on the complaint, and appropriate action will follow.”“The SUV driver might have been under the influence of alcohol. We are examining all the aspects. Some people suggest that the accident might have been caused by fog,” he said.
