Two hospitals fined 1L each for lack of BU permission in Anand

Vadodara: The town planning and estate department of the Karamsad-Anand Municipal Corporation (KAMC) on Tuesday imposed an administrative penalty of Rs 1 lakh each on two private hospitals in Anand for allegedly operating without mandatory Building Use (BU) permission.Officials said a surprise inspection was carried out at Suvidha Nursing Home near Ahimsa Chowk and Sanjivani Hospital on Mahavir Marg. During the drive, the civic team sought documents related to building approval, sanctioned plans, BU permission and fire NOC from the owners and occupiers.However, the required permissions from the competent authority were not produced at the time of inspection, officials said.Invoking provisions of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949, the estate department imposed an administrative fine of Rs 1 lakh on each establishment for violation of norms.The hospital managements have been issued notices directing them to obtain and submit the necessary approvals within 10 days. The notices state that the premises should not be used until the required permissions are secured.Civic authorities warned that failure to comply with the directions may lead to further action under the act, including sealing of the premises.
