Police arrested two notorious criminals following an encounter in Dibiyapur police station area of Auraiya district on Tuesday night. One of them was shot at in the leg and was admitted to hospital.
CO Auraiya Ashok Singh said during a routine checking two suspicious motorcycles were signalled to stop. The criminals opened fire at the police team. Police retaliated, during which one criminal identified as Shivam of Kutupur village under Phaphund police station, was injured. His accomplice, Harsh of Panki in Kanpur, was also arrested. Police recovered two country-made pistols. Two other accomplices on another bike managed to escape during the encounter. A search operation has been launched to trace and arrest them.
