Two brothers kill each other in Munger over land dispute
A bitter land dispute turned deadly in Munger district, where two brothers fatally attacked each other with rods and knives over ancestral property. Shailesh Kumar Singh died instantly, while his elder brother Mukesh Kumar succumbed to his injuries en route to medical care. The violent confrontation erupted on a village street following a heated argument.

Patna: Two brothers died on Tuesday in Khapra village under Tetiya Bamber police station limits in Munger district after attacking each other over an old dispute involving five bighas of land.Shailesh Kumar Singh (40) died on the spot after being struck with an iron rod and stabbed with a knife. His elder brother, Mukesh Kumar (45), sustained similar injuries and succumbed while being rushed for medical treatment.Both men inflicted fatal injuries on each other during the clash. The incident occurred on a village street when the siblings—locked in a long-standing dispute over ancestral property and a pathway adjacent to their house—came face to face. What began as a verbal altercation quickly turned violent, with both attacking each other using rods and knives.Police recovered a blood-stained iron rod, a knife and other items from the spot. The bodies were sent to a govt hospital for postmortem.Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Imran Masood said, “A dispute over the division of land led to a clash between two brothers. They attacked each other with an iron rod and a knife. While one died on the spot, the other passed away during treatment. The family has four brothers. The two surviving brothers have not yet appeared before the police, but they will be summoned and questioned.”“The SDPO visited the spot and questioned eyewitnesses. Villagers told the police that the brothers had fought earlier as well over the property. The wife of one of the deceased was not at home at the time of the incident and had gone to her maternal home. Her statement will be recorded and further action will be taken,” the SP added.
