Two arrested with illegal weapons

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police have arrested two men after illegal weapons were recovered from their possession. The accused have been identified as Sarabjit Singh of Boothgarh village and Manoj Kumar of Subhash Nagar in Basti Jodhewal area of Ludhiana district.Police officials said acting on a tip off, a team of special cell, Ludhiana police, had on on Feb 18 apprehended the accused from near a vacant plot in Meherban area. They added that during search of the accused, the police recovered a 32 bore pistol and two live cartridges from their possession.

The cops said case was registered against the accused under the Arma Act after which they were arrested.Duo held with 320gms heroin, drug money Police have arrested two individuals after 320gms heroin and Rs 9,000 drug proceeds were recovered from their possession. Officials said that on Monday, the two accused were apprehended from the Seera village in Meherban area. Cops added that the duo was subsequently booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Earlier this week, a youth was found dead in the forest area along Sirhind canal. He was missing from around a fortnight. The family members of the deceased told cops that hewas addicted to drugs and had also been admitted to a drug rehabilitation center at Baddi for a year, from which he had come out a few days ago.
