Two arrested for killing crocodile in Karjan

Vadodara: Two men were arrested by the forest department on Friday for killing a crocodile in Karjan taluka of Vadodara district.According to forest officials, the accused attacked a five-year-old crocodile that was resting on the banks of a lake in Chorbhuj village on Jan 17. A video of the incident later surfaced on social media and went viral, prompting the forest department to initiate an investigation.“We identified the accused based on the video footage and other inputs and tracked them down. During questioning, they claimed they attacked the crocodile with sticks after being asked to do so by villagers,” said J S Rathod, range forest officer (RFO), Karjan.The accused were identified as Vitthal Nayak and Bipin Nayak. They were arrested under provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act.
