Vadodara: The crime branch on Sunday busted a ticket black-marketing racket and arrested two men for selling India–New Zealand one-day international (ODI) match tickets at inflated prices in the city.Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the duo in the Bhandwada area while they were allegedly selling Level 1 and Level 2 tickets for Rs 2,000 each for the match at Kotambi International Cricket Stadium. The accused were identified as Ketan Patel and Hitesh Joshi.
Police seized 17 ODI tickets from their possession. “The accused did not have any authority to sell the tickets and were offering them at higher-than-official rates,” a police official said.Investigators are now trying to ascertain how the duo procured the tickets and whether more tickets were sold in recent days.The India–New Zealand ODI drew a packed crowd at Kotambi Stadium, as the city hosted a men’s ODI match after a gap of 16 years.
