Jaipur: With three major events occurring on the same day—the Army Day Parade on Mahal Road, the Shaurya Sandhya event of Indian Army at SMS Stadium, and the start of Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) on JLN Marg—several traffic diversions throughout the day are likely to cause congestion on key roads like JLN Marg and Tonk Road Thursday. With VVIPs, including defence minister Rajnath Singh, attending, the district administration and city police have devised a comprehensive traffic plan and issued advisories to manage the expected congestion.
The traffic department has announced that vehicle movement on Mahal Road between NRI Chouraha and Bombay Hospital intersection will remain suspended from early morning till noon.For the Shaurya Sandhya event in the evening, traffic will be restricted on all four sides of SMS Stadium compound from 4pm to 5pm and again from 7pm to 8pm.Officials said they expect huge congestion on the JLN Marg owing to the SMS Stadium diversions and the JLF event, in view of which they have released an traffic plan for the stretch between Jawahar Circle and SL Marg intersection on JLN Marg.“No vehicles will be allowed to stop even for a few minutes on both flanks of this important stretch. All cars that have to pick up or drop passengers need to take the service roads. We have earmarked six spots on the service lanes on both sides of the main entrance to Hotel Clarks Amer for parking,” stated an official.
