Shining a light on the fact that Ms Minaj was not in attendance just 48 hours after stepping out at the premiere of Melania Trump’s big-screen documentary, Mr Noah quipped that the rapper remained occupied at the White House alongside President Trump.
The comedian’s opening monologue at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles drew enthusiastic cheers from attendees during the skit.

Reacting to a clip of Mr Noah’s swipe, shared by US publication Variety, some X users were left rather unimpressed.
“Trevor Noah is not funny,” one X user hit out, while a second echoed: “At least Nicki is (more) respectable than a lot of the celebs there.”
“Nicki Minaj hasn’t attended the #GRAMMYS in over 10 years, yet she’s still the main topic of the night,” a third fan penned in a separate thread.

However, Mr Noah’s mocking of the Maga-supporting musician did receive plenty of plaudits from X users opposed to the US President and his latest celebrity endorsement.
“It’s official, Nicki Minaj is the joke of the music industry. #GRAMMYs as she should be,” one critic argued.
“Trevor Noah did not come to play,” another viewer wrote in response to the aforementioned clip, while a third celebrated: “The crowd cheering because he said she wasn’t there,” alongside a series of crying emojis.
Ms Minaj’s political transformation has sparked considerable backlash amongst her fanbase in recent months.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president,” Ms Minaj declared during the event, praising his ability to give people “hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys.”
Ms Minaj’s absence and Mr Noah’s subsequent ridicule were far from the only moments from this year’s awards that sent social media into a frenzy.
Before the awards had even gotten underway, Pink Pony Club hitmaker Chappell Roan sparked a fierce debate among viewers for an “inappropriate” wardrobe choice.

Ms Roan took to the red carpet in a deep burgundy dress, held aloft solely by tassels on her nipples.
There was also an emotional moment when Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears while accompanying rockstar Yungblud on stage to receive his gong for Best Rock Performance.
Yungblud dedicated the win to Ms Osbourne’s late husband and his idol, Ozzy Osbourne, in a particularly poignant moment.
Meanwhile, Mr Noah’s appearance at the February 1 ceremony marked his sixth and final time hosting the Grammys, a run that began whilst he was presenting The Daily Show on Comedy Central.

Executive producer Ben Winston praised the comedian’s contribution to the broadcast, stating: “He’s been the most phenomenal host of the show. He’s so smart, so funny, and such a true fan of the artists and music.”
Beyond the Ms Minaj jokes, Mr Noah’s monologue touched on other topics, including a quip about Lauryn Hill performing for the first time since 1999 and a reference to Jeff Bezos’s wedding.
