Treat all voters with courtesy, sensitivity: Rinwa to BLOs in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: UP chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa conducted an inspection at the notice hearing centre at the Nagar Palika Balika Inter College in Sahibabad and reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme in the district.Rinwa also interacted with booth level officers (BLOs) and supervisors from Loni, Muradnagar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Dhaulana (partial) assembly constituencies at Hindi Bhawan in Lohia Nagar. At the hearing centre, the CEO examined facilities, procedures and the complaint redressal mechanism. He spoke to voters present at the centre and sought feedback from representatives of political parties.“Citizens visiting the centres must be treated with courtesy, transparency and sensitivity. Strengthening democracy depends on active voter participation, and it is our responsibility to ensure that no eligible voter faces inconvenience in exercising their right,” Rinwa said.Rinwa directed officials to organise additional camps wherever required, particularly in areas witnessing a high footfall for Form 6 submissions and mapping-related work. “The role of BLOs is crucial in ensuring a fair, transparent and error-free SIR. Special vigilance must be exercised during the purification of the electoral roll so that every eligible citizen’s name is included,” he added. District electoral officer and DM Ravindra Mander briefed the CEO on door-to-door verification drives and voter awareness campaigns conducted in the district. He said that 86 special camps were organised at booth and society levels to facilitate citizens.“The effective implementation of this exercise depends largely on the dedication and sincerity of our BLOs and supervisory officers. We are running a focused campaign to ensure that the voter list is error-free and that all eligible citizens are enrolled,” Mander said. Ghaziabad draft electoral roll published on Jan 6 includes over 20 lakh voters. Of these, a total of 1,53,048 voters fall under the ‘unmapped’ category. Around 96% of unmapped voters have been served notices so far, and hearings are ongoing. Officials said the district has set a target of March 15 to complete the notice hearing process. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, Rinwa directed officials to maintain the same pace and commitment in the coming weeks.Additionally, the CEO also felicitated 39 BLOs, 11 BLO supervisors, six assistant electoral registration officers, and five electoral registration officers for their exemplary work in SIR, and presented them with certificates and gifts.
