Tonk police arrest two with over 400 cyber fraud cases against them

Bhilwara: The District Special Team (DST) of Tonk police Friday arrested two men who allegedly used fake SIM cards and fraudulent online links to scam people across 22 states of an estimated Rs 12 crore. Besides Rs 1 lakh in cash, five mobile phones worth Rs 5 lakh and numerous SIM cards, the police also seized a vehicle from the duo that was reportedly purchased with the proceeds of crime.Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena identified the two accused as Ramavatar (26) and Hansraj (28). He said a total of 404 complaints were lodged against the two on the National Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), including cyber fraud complaints amounting to a total of Rs 2.4 crore.Police also recovered a total of 82 SIM cards issued in various states from the duo. A case has been registered against them at Dooni police station and an investigation is underway to trace other possible members of their criminal network.SP Meena appealed to the public to not share OTPs or open APK files, urging anyone suspicious of attempted cyber fraud to immediately report the matter byt calling the 1930 toll free number.
