Chennai: Even as Congress leaders continued their attack on DMK MLA G Thalapathy for his criticism of Congress on Tuesday, the DMK directed its functionaries to refarin from commenting about alliance parties.TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai urged chief minister M K Stalin to initiate action on DMK MLA G Thalapathy for his remarks against Congress that the national party does not have any significant vote share in the state.Selvaperunthagai said Congress is growing in the state. “The remarks of Thalapathy are both unnecessary and condemnable. Congress is marching towards the goal of strengthening the organisation across the state. The task of forming 100% booth committees is on the verge of completion. 85% of village committees have been established,” Selvaperunthagai said.Stating that Thalapathy disrespected Congress, Selvaperunthagai wanted Stalin to take action on him. `who trampled on the dignity of alliance politics and spoke degradingly about Congress and its MPs,’ Selvaperunthagai said.Congress legislative party leader Rajesh Kumar said on X that Thalapathy should not speak irresponsibly. “No one should work to break the alliance and friendship between Stalin and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who have joined hands to defeat the BJP,” Rajesh Kumar said.Meanwhile, DMK organisational secretary R S Bharathi asked DMK functionaries to refrain from commenting about alliance parties.“The party functionaries must completely refrain from publicly discussing opinions related to alliances, constituency allocations, and alliance party members. Since no benefits arise from unnecessary controversies, attention should be focused on constructive party activities. Decisions related to alliances will be announced by the party leader at the appropriate time,” Bharathi said on X.
