Bahraich: For around half an hour late Friday night, a stretch of the Motipur-Bichhiya road near the Girjapuri petrol pump turned into an unexpected wildlife theatre when a tigress and her three cubs stepped onto the road in the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division.The rare sighting brought motorists and travellers to a halt as the animals made their way across the road. Keeping a safe distance, people remained inside their vehicles, watching the tigress as she moved from one side of the road to the other, with her three cubs staying close by.The unusual encounter quickly drew attention, with several witnesses recording videos of the tigress and her cubs from inside their vehicles.According to eyewitnesses, vehicular movement stopped for around five minutes as motorists waited patiently for the animals to clear the road. The tigress eventually led her cubs towards the forest, disappearing into the darkness. Traffic resumed normally soon after.Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Katarniaghat Wildlife Division, Apurva Dixit described the sighting as an indication of active wildlife movement in the area.Dixit appealed to motorists and travellers passing through forest stretches to remain cautious and maintain a safe distance whenever wildlife is spotted.The Forest Department also advised people not to approach wild animals, make loud noises or deliberately block their path. Officials stressed that allowing wildlife to cross roads without disturbance is essential for the safety of both animals and motorists.
