Three Lakhisarai devotees die in road accident
Tragedy struck on NH-33 as three devotees from Sheikhpura district lost their lives in a road accident while en route to Mokama for a holy dip on Maghi Purnima. Their overloaded autorickshaw was struck by a speeding truck. Two died instantly, while a third succumbed to injuries later. Two others are critically injured.

Patna: Three devotees, hailing from Lodipur village in Sheikhpura district, died in a road accident on Sunday morning. The incident took place on National Highway-33 (Mokama-Sarmera Road) near Karkain village while they were travelling to Mokama to take a holy dip in the Ganga river on the occasion of Maghi Purnima.Police said their modified autorickshaw, carrying more than six passengers, was hit by a speeding truck from behind.

Munni Manjhi (35), son of Prayag Manjhi, and Mahesh Manjhi (36), son of Chand Manjhi—both residents of Lodipur village in Mehus police station area of Sheikhpura district—died on the spot. Sanjay Manjhi (40), son of Ramswaroop Manjhi, succumbed to his injuries later while undergoing treatment at the PMCH. Two others—Ashok Manjhi, son of Lacho Manjhi, and Ghanshyam Manjhi, son of Bachchu Manjhi—sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical care at the hospital.Upon receiving the information, officers from Ghoswari police station in Mokama swiftly reached the accident site. They sent the bodies to a govt hospital for the postmortem.SHO, Satyam Tiwari, said the accident took place around 11.40am. “The truck driver escaped after the incident with his vehicle. All the deceased and injured hail from Lodipur village, and they were travelling to Mokama to take a holy dip in the Ganga on Maghi Purnima,” he said.
