Lucknow: Three people, including a father and his son, were killed, while two others sustained critical injuries after a speeding car lost control, rammed into a tree and overturned six times before falling into a roadside ditch in Rae Bareli on Wednesday. The accident took place on Rae Bareli–Pratapgarh road under Deeh police station. The victims had come to attend a wedding in neighbouring Pratapgarh district.According to police, Mukesh (40), his son Divyansh, 20, and, Ramu, 20, reached Rae Bareli railway station to attend the wedding of their kin. They were received at the station by the bride’s brother, Chander, and his friend Abhishek Singh in a car. While returning towards Sangipur, the vehicle reportedly went out of control and crashed into a tree. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely mangled. Eyewitnesses said the bonnet broke off and was flung nearly 10 feet away, and the vehicle’s front frame was crushed beyond recognition. Hearing screams, nearby villagers rushed to the spot and found the occupants lying around the wreckage. Deeh station house officer Mohan Saroj reached the scene with a team and shifted all five injured persons to the nearby Community Health Centre. Doctors declared Mukesh, Divyansh and Ramu dead on arrival. Chander and Abhishek, who suffered serious injuries, were referred to Rae Bareli Medical College for advanced treatment.
