Surat: An electric SUV hit an electric scooter and two sedans near DPS Crossroad on Dumas Road on Sunday night. Two youths on the scooter fell on the road and suffered serious injuries. The driver of the electric SUV was also injured in the accident. Dumas police identified him as Viral Desai and booked him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving endangering human lives.The complainant, Jay Shah (21), an MBA student at Parul University, stated that he had gone to Dumas with his friend Vicky Patel. On their way back, the accused’s car rammed into their scooter while being driven rashly and negligently. Desai did not stop but kept going and hit two sedans parked beside the road as well. An ambulance was called and Shah and Patel were taken to a private hospital. While Shah suffered injuries to his head, hands, legs and nose, Patel fractured his spine and hip. As Desai was also injured, he was also shifted to a hospital. Dumas police booked Desai and took his blood samples to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
