Pune: The Rural Police on Wednesday arrested a three-member gang involved in robbing workers at the Ranjangaon MIDC area. Officers recovered five stolen mobile handsets and a motorcycle, with a total valuation of Rs 1.5 lakh, from the suspects.The arrested individuals have been identified as Nilesh Pawar (28) from Parner, Ahilyanagar; Mohan Bhoge (29) of Shirur; and Abhijit Pawar (35) from Sangamner, Ahilyanagar. According to the police, the trio specifically targeted industrial workers commuting to or from their shifts in the MIDC hub.

Senior Police Inspector Mahadev Waghmode of the Ranjangaon police station stated that the investigation began following an incident on January 14, where three unidentified men thrashed a worker and robbed him of his phone. “Following this, several more workers approached us with similar complaints of mobile robbery,” Waghmode said.A team led by Sub-Inspector Avinash Thorat analyzed the victims’ descriptions of the suspects and found a consistent pattern. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the trio. “Upon taking them into custody, we recovered five robbed handsets and the motorcycle used in the commission of these crimes,” Waghmode added.Police are currently interrogating the suspects to determine their involvement in other similar robberies across the district.
