Three held for circulating Karwar pharmacist’s video

Karwar: Police on Saturday arrested three people for allegedly circulating a video suspected of having driven a pharmacist to shoot himself to death. Ankola police took Subhash, Harishchandra and Anil, all residents of Wailawada in Karwar taluk, into custody. The case relates to the death of Rajeev Pikle, associated with Pikle Nursing Home, who allegedly shot himself with a double-barrel gun at his residence in Aversa village, Ankola taluk, on Friday. Police said the case is linked to a video that went viral about 15 days earlier, reportedly recorded at the hospital while Pikle was on duty. The footage showed a confrontation over allegations that a staff member had administered an expired tablet and quickly spread on social media, drawing outrage.Although Pikle and hospital staff later issued a public apology and clarified the incident was an unintentional error, the video continued to circulate, allegedly causing him severe mental distress. Based on a complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation, leading to the arrests for allegedly making the video viral. Pikle’s last rites were performed in Karwar after a postmortem on Saturday, and further investigation is ongoing.
