Three engineers killed after car rams truck near Tumakuru

Bengaluru: Three software engineers working in Bengaluru were killed and four others injured after a car they were travelling in rammed a truck from behind on the Sira–Tumakuru highway in the early hours of Monday.The deceased have been identified as Aniketh (25) from Chandigarh, Abhir (24) from Uttar Pradesh, and Sanmukhi (22) from Andhra Pradesh.Three other engineers — Siddarth Sharma, Ranjith, Kruthi — and car driver Veeresh, who suffered injuries, were shifted to nearby private hospitals.All passengers in the vehicle were working in private firms in Bengaluru. Police said the group had hired the car from a travel agency and gone on a trip to Murudeshwara, Gokarna, Udupi, and other coastal places. They were returning to Bengaluru when the accident occurred near Nelahal village in Tumakuru district.Police said the road had a slight incline and Veeresh, who was allegedly driving at a high speed, failed to notice the slow-moving truck and rammed it from behind.Passers-by and local residents rushed to help the victims. One of the injured was stated to be in critical condition.The families of the deceased were informed of the tragedy, police said.
