Buxar: The three-day Patna divisional-level cultural and sports festival UMANG–26 was inaugurated at Govt Engineering College (GEC), Buxar, on Thursday. The event was jointly inaugurated by Buxar DDC Niharika Chhavi and GEC principal Ram Naresh Rai.Organised by the department of science, technology and technical education, the festival will conclude on Jan 17. Principals Amrita Sinha (BCE Bakhtiyarpur) and Manish Kumar (Shershah Engineering College, Sasaram) were also present. The festival aims to promote cultural talent, sportsmanship, and leadership among students. Teams from Bhojpur, Buxar, Sasaram, Kaimur, Bakhtiyarpur, and Chandi are participating.
Addressing students, Rai said cultural and sports activities are vital for overall personality development as they help build confidence, leadership, and teamwork. He encouraged students to balance academics with co-curricular activities.The guests appreciated the academic discipline, cleanliness, and infrastructure of the campus, terming a positive environment essential for holistic student growth. Chief guest Niharika Chhavi motivated students through her self-composed verses, urging them to stay positive and goal-oriented.The event is being coordinated by assistant professors Gaurav Parmar, Gautam Kumar, and Ajay Prabhakar, while the vote of thanks was proposed by associate professor R.N. Yadav
