Chennai: Three people were arrested by the Tambaram police in connection with two separate land fraud cases involving forged documents and impersonation to grab properties in Pallavaram and Madipakkam.According to police, the arrests followed complaints received from two property owners whose lands were fraudulently transferred using fake inheritance certificates and power of attorney documents.
In the first case, Venkataraman Sampasivan complained that his residential land worth about ₹1.2 crore, belonging to his paternal uncle’s son in Zamin Pallavaram, was usurped using a forged legal heir certificate. Police registered a case and arrested Y Gauthaman, 45, of Pammal.In the second case, Chandraprakasamlu reported that an attempt was made to grab 9,600 square feet of land belonging to his father, K P Venugopal Reddyar, in Madipakkam by preparing forged documents and impersonating the legal heir.A fake General Power of Attorney was created to transfer the property. Based on his complaint, Central Crime Branch (CCB) police registered a case and arrested G Sundarraj, 69, of Pozhichalur, and Selvaraj, 64, of Anakaputhur, on Friday.All 3 accused were produced before the jurisdictional magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
