Temp inches up, no fog likely in coming days

Chandigarh: Chandigarh witnessed a marked improvement in weather Sunday, bringing residents the much-needed relief from the prolonged spell of dense fog and biting cold that had disrupted daily life, slowed traffic and hit flight operations in recent days. The Met department has forecast no fog for at least the next five days.Though the sky is expected to remain cloudy, weather conditions are likely to stay stable. Sunny spells on Sunday helped lift both maximum and minimum temperatures, providing respite from the harsh winter chill.According to the Met dept, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 23.4°C — five degrees above normal — while the minimum settled at 5.5°C, two degrees below normal. The rise in day temperature made outdoor conditions more comfortable after days of severe cold.Weather officials said mornings and evenings may continue to feel chilly, but the absence of dense fog will significantly ease visibility-related problems for commuters. The gradual uptick in temperatures indicates a temporary break from severe winter conditions, even as intermittent cloud cover persists. For the coming days, the forecast suggests relatively comfortable weather, with maximum temperatures likely to hover between 22°C and 24°C and minimum temperatures expected in the 6°C-9°C range.
