Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Monday asked the state to explain its stand on a petition filed by Bommaraju Narsing, an advocate and a Congress party worker, who sought police protection citing constant threats to him.A bench of Justice N Tukaramji directed the assistant government pleader (Home) appearing for the state to seek instructions in the matter and posted it to Feb 9 for further hearing.Narsing told the court that he faced a threat to his life from candidates who cleared the Group-I prelims examination in 2023, which was later cancelled on two occasions following petitions filed in the high court. He said he faced repeated threats after he had filed petitions alleging irregularities in the examination and the high court cancelled it.He claimed the threats came through social media platforms following his active role in the Group-I issue. He argued that despite submitting multiple representations to the police seeking action on the threats and protection, no action was taken. “Even after the governor of Telangana forwarded his representation to the Telangana DGP, police did not respond to his grievance nor acted on the threats,” argued Narsing.During the hearing, the assistant govt pleader sought time from the court to get instructions. Recording submissions from both sides, the judge directed and adjourned the matter.
