Matt Weston has etched their name into British sporting history by becoming the first athlete from Britain to secure two gold medals at a single Winter Olympics.
Never before had Team GB claimed two gold medals on a single day at a Winter Olympics, also creating a historic moment at the games
The victory, secured alongside Tabby Stoecker in the skeleton mixed team, came on the same day as the mixed team snowboard gold.
This remarkable Sunday brought Britain’s gold medal tally to three at these Games.
That tally represents the highest number of gold medals the nation has ever achieved at a single Winter Olympics.
Weston won his first on Friday evening at the Cortina Sliding Centre, while Stoecker finished in fifth in the women’s event on Saturday.
As a team, they were sitting in second place behind Germany before Weston secured the victory by 0.17 seconds.
Fellow Britons Marcus Wyatt and Freya Tarbit were pushed into fourth place by the second German team.

Following the triumph, Weston said: “Luckily I felt like I knew what I needed to do.
“I took a load of confidence from the individual event and I almost had to ‘be boring’ to get the job done and do it again.”
Stoecker added: “I can’t believe it.
“It’s a team effort and when Matt came down and we were in the green, I was just in shock.”

It was the first time a mixed event had been included in the Winter Olympic Games.
It sees sliders hurtle down the track one after the other, with five red lights going out, prompting them to set off.
Heavy penalties or disqualification can be imposed on a team that pushes off before the lights go out.
Weston and Stoecker watched 14 other pairs compete.

Earlier today, Team GB won their second gold medal of the Winter Olympics, with Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale securing glory in mixed team snowboard cross.
Nightingale originally crossed the line in second place in the men’s part of the competition, leaving Bankes well-poised to secure gold.
And she managed to do exactly that, finishing ahead of Italy’s Michela Moioli to spark the wild celebrations out in the cold.
Team GB now have three golds for the Winter Olympics this month.
Though they’ve historically struggled at the Games, the success they’re enjoying in Italy will spark hopes of more glory ahead.
