Kolkata: A life science teacher from Mathurapur BSS High School in Malda was suspended by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) on Thursday for clicking photograph of the question paper of Madhyamik examination using a mobile phone in the toilet, midway through the test.This year, a total of 10 exam facilitators, including teachers, non-teaching staff, and a headmaster, were suspended over mobile-related issues. The Madhyamik examination ended on Thursday. Board officials said the Life Science teacher was caught by the additional venue supervisor during a visit to the exam centre. The supervisor found the teacher in a toilet, taking pictures of the question paper.
The board is investigating whether the photos were intended to be sent outside or were used for helping students to cheat. The phone was immediately seized. The Kolkata office was informed to take action. Earlier, a Maths teacher of the same school was suspended for helping examinees write History answers. The board will initiate disciplinary proceedings against the teacher and asked the school to submit CCTV footage and the register, in which staff sign after submitting their mobile phones.
