Patna: A govt school teacher was killed after being run over by a speeding truck near Newalal Chowk in Purnia on Friday. The victim was identified as Naveen Kumar Bhagat (45), a resident of Rampur Ghorghat village under the Mufassil police station area. After joining govt service, he lived in Maranga’s Krishnapuri Hata.According to his son, Abhishek Kumar, “Bhagat, a teacher at the primary school in Ghuski Tola, was on his way to school when the truck, coming from the opposite direction, crushed him. The driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind.”Locals informed the police and the family. Bhagat was rushed to a private hospital in the city, where doctors referred him to a higher centre due to his critical condition. He died on the way.“The truck was seized, and the body was sent to Purnia GMCH for post-mortem. An investigation is underway,” Sub-Inspector Rajiv Kumar said.
