Tamil Nadu Govt: Online applications mandatory for marriage aid

Chennai: To simplify procedures for marriage assistance schemes, Tamil Nadu govt has mandated online applications. Manual submission and middlemen services have been eliminated to ensure uniformity, transparency, and timely processing. This initiative is part of the SimpleGov initiative launched in 2023.An empowered committee recommended these changes for schemes, including Dr Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu widow remarriage assistance, Annai Therasa Ninaivu marriage assistance, EVR Maniammaiyar Ninaivu marriage assistance, and Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu inter-caste marriage assistance. “The committee decided that the applications under the schemes shall be submitted only after solemnisation of marriage,” the order said. Tamil Nadu e-governance agency was directed to enable the online processes through e-seva or a similar alternative . Applications must be submitted within six months from the date of marriage. The processing timeline for registered marriages is set at 20 days, while unregistered marriages will have a 30-day disposal timeline.
