SUV driver killed in mishap after railing pierces his chest

Jaipur: A 28-year-old man was killed after his SUV rammed into an iron divider in Murlipura area of Jaipur Friday. The crash was so severe that a metal angle from the roadside railing broke through the windscreen and pierced the driver’s chest, killing him on the spot.According to police, the accident took place around 2.40am Friday when the victim, identified as Anand Singh Shekhawat (28) of Sunder Vihar, Kardhani, drove towards Murlipura from Dadi Ka Phatak. His friend, Shakti Pratap (22), a resident of Devdhara Colony, Murlipura, was seated beside him and survived the crash. “Two friends were travelling in the SUV for some work when the vehicle reportedly lost balance near Kedia Circle in Murlipura. The SUV veered off and crashed into the iron railing built in the middle of the road,” said a police officer. The impact snapped an iron angle from the divider, which shattered the front windscreen and penetrated the driver’s side, striking Anand Singh in the chest. “He sustained critical injuries and was trapped inside the mangled vehicle. As the co-passenger alerted us, our team reached the spot. We used a metal cutter to slice through the iron angle and extricate the victim from the wreckage,” said an officer of Accident (West) police station. The victim was rushed to Kanwatia Hospital by ambulance, where doctors declared him brought dead.
